VI - Information Security

This is our last week with our professor. On our last meeting we discussed about our machine project which is snort. I will surely miss this subject because I learned a lot about security.

For the past two weeks we discussed about the physical security and a case study. I never thought that in physical security there are a security reasons behind a place for example the elevator with a glass wall, it is security so someone will know if something already bad is happening.

My specialization is computer networks and I can say that security is a big part of my specialization.

V - Information Security

For the last two weeks we discussed about Infrastructure Security where we will combine what we had learn in networking and security. But first we reviewed about the four factors on designing a network which are: Fault tolerance, which sets a back up incase there will be a problem in the connection or network, Quality of Service or also known as QoS which gives priority, while Scalability when there will be many users the network will adjust for it so there will be no problem and last but not the least Security which means, from the word itself, to secure the network.

We also discussed about some network design, where we should put the firewalls. I really got interested in this topic because this part of security is combined to my specialization which is computer networks. I learned a lot, specially the different types of firewalls which I though all firewalls are the same but I was wrong there are three types.

On our last meeting we had an activity where we should access the security of the other user while we are the admin, I admit that it is hard, good thing that our professor allows us to do it at home so we will have more time to do it.

IV - Information Security

For the past two weeks we discussed about cryptography. I'm getting a little confused with some terms and meanings but when it comes to the computation, I get it alot. On our last meeting, we had a group work, it is about the numbers that is encrypted as letters and how do you compute for it. It is kind of easy and hard at the same time for me. Hard because i don't know some solutions and easy because I really love numbers and I get it easily. We also had a activity  where you will write a pseudocode, I'm confused because my group mate wasn't able to explain it to us.

III - Information Security

This week we defend our case study, we had Security on automated controlled vehicles which is a new thing for all of us. Our group presented the topic well, we are also united in solving our case study and we are able to gather the informations we need but our professor suggest that we should add one more reference to convince others that self driving cars are not yet ready for the world to use, and I think that he has a good point on what we should add. The case study is also our midterms, it is a good thing that we don't have a midterm exam for infosec, because we are able to apply our learning in an actual activity. Doing projects such as case study and machine projects are more useful instead of doing an exam, because we are able to use our skills and intelligence in doing those kinds of programs, plus we are able to analyze different security problems and we are able to solve them.

II - Information Security

This week is full of activities, we don't have so much lesson because we had a debate about some security issues. Our group had Piracy: Is it good or bad. We had the government side which means that we are on the good side and that Piracy should not be allowed. Our group defended our side well and we did our best, and that is what matters the most.

For this day, we used the time for infosec to attend a seminar about Windows 10 and the good thing about it. The speaker is persuading us to upgrade to Windows 10 because it is free until October and he is telling all the good things about Windows 10. For me, windows 10 is better that the other windows upgrade. Plus our speaker is really funny and he never failed to persuade many of us.

I - Information Security

Information Security, from the word itself security, this course is all about security and the different classifications of it. For me it is a good thing that our professor is not new to us, he is also our professor before in Opesys1 which is a good thing because we already know his approach. In this course, I expect to learn more on our security and what are the examples of the viruses that cannot be read by the antiviruses and I also want to know how to make a virus, for educational purpose only ofcourse. I also hope to learn how to make my computer more secured.

In this subject, we don't have any midterm exam, for the midterms we only have a case study. It is both a good and bad thing for me. Bad because what is our case study failed, we don't have a back-up plan and Good because it is less work for us. But we have a final exam and a project for our finals which is a good thing so we can apply the things we learn in a software.
